Baltic press photographers continue World Press Photo training

Tallinn, May 22, 2002.  A total of 15 young Baltic press photographers attended a two-day seminar in Tallinn, which was part of the World Press Photo (WPPh) training programme How to Become a Good Press Photographer.

The seminar, organized on May 17-18 by the Estonian Media Centre and the Estonian Newspaper Association, and sponsored by Canon, was devoted to analysing the participants' home assignments. The analysis was made by Colin Jacobson, a press photo editor and trainer of world renown.

The best of the assignments will be displayed on the sidelines of the WPPh annual exhibition in September in Lithuania. This will be preceded by an additional workshop in Jurmala, Latvia.

During the Tallinn seminar, Canon organized a blitz competition, in which the participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania had to take pictures with digital cameras of their colleagues under the topic "There wouldn't be life without it!" The winners of the competition were Egert Kamenik of
Postimees (Estonia), Normunds Mezins of AFI agency (Latvia) and Tomas Kauneckas of the  Verslo Zinios newspaper (Lithuania).
